Does wearing a wedding band really attract women?

A co-worker an friend of mine (24yrs old) wears a wedding band an he’s not married. I asked him why an he said “to pick up the ladies” he said women love a challange.
I said does it work? An he claims it does. I already have a girlfriend, so im not planning on trying it. But does it work? Does anyone else do that?
